SITE - VALTUILLE DE ABAJO

Villegas

The Mencía and Alicante Bouschet grapes, with 15% stems, ferment with indigenous yeasts in a 7,500-liter French oak foudre, without temperature control. The wine then ages for twelve months in 500-liter barrels and in a 1,000-liter oval foudre, refining to show a deep, fruity profile full of character from the Bierzo region.

ATKIN

“You were only twenty-seven years old
beautiful, in love and faithful,
other years you waited for him,
but you never saw him again.”

Helios Estevez

El Paraje

In Villegas, a historic goblet-trained vineyard in Valtuille de Abajo, a singular vein of sand crosses the site and brings a distinctive elegance to its wines. At an altitude of 500 meters above sea level and facing east, its 90-year-old vines of Mencía and Alicante Bouschet grow on clay-loam soils with a strong presence of sand.

The result is a place of fine and expressive character, where the age, soil and light of Bierzo combine to give life to wines full of identity.
