Mencía Rosé - VALTUILLE DE ABAJO

Versos de
Valtuille

Musts of Mencía, Bastardo and Godello Viejo descend by gravity to ferment with indigenous yeasts. The wine then rests for twelve months in French oak barrels, slowly refining until it becomes a rosé that reads like a verse: fresh, delicate and full of Bierzo identity.

“I imagine you quietly
as when we went to work in the vineyards,
thinking perhaps that the frost
would leave us with very little harvest.

I imagine you on your way to the farm
fresh wind, sunny afternoon,
with a few bunches in the basket
of an early harvest.”

El Paraje

Located in the highest area of Valtuille, El Chuqueiro is a unique place. Its clay soils retain the necessary humidity for the old vines, planted in goblet-trained vines more than a century ago, to survive the dry summers of the Bierzo.

The eastern orientation allows for slow and balanced ripening, protecting the fruit from the scorching afternoon sun.
